About RANDY
Randy Cope manages the sale and appraisal process for daily newspapers and weekly publication groups. His emphasis is in newspaper and publication consulting, providing operational restructuring and strategic planning to newspaper boards and owners.
Prior to joining Cribb, Cope & Potts, Randy served as President and CEO of Dallas-based American Consolidated Media (ACM). During his time with ACM he oversaw more than 60 publications in eight states. His key focus with ACM was to improve the quality of their print products and aggressively build a sustainable digital presence in each of the ACM markets.
Prior to working at ACM, Randy served as Co-President and Co-COO of Gate House Media. During his time with GateHouse, he directly supervised over 30 newspapers in the Midwest and oversaw divisions that operated in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia.
Besides operations, Randy also worked extensively with acquisitions for GateHouse in a time the company quadrupled in size. Randy was able to use his more than 25 years of operating experience to evaluate acquisition opportunities and help develop a model for future growtth. During his time with Gate House, Randy also was involved in all aspects of the company’s operation, including their Internet strategy, capital expenditure strategy, and revenue enhancement programs.
Randy is a native of Neosho, Missouri, where he grew up in his family’s newspaper, the Neosho Daily News. In 1987 the family sold the Daily News to America Publishing Company. Randy soon took over as publisher of the Daily News, following his father and grandfather in that role. Randy later became regional manager for APC and in 1995 moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas to become publisher of the Northwest Arkansas Times.
In 1999 Randy went to work for Liberty Group Publishing (later called GateHouse Media) where he first served as regional manager, before moving up to Executive Vice-Presidernt and later to his position as Co-President and Co-COO.
Randy and his wife, Pam, reside in Bella Vista, Arkansas, where they are active in a number of organizations, including a foundation they started in 2002, called Touch A Life. Touch A Life supports victimized children around the world, but focuses mainly in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Ghana.
